Summary
Plan, coordinate and support activities concerned with design, implementation and manufacturing of Talgo equipment (new trains, maintenance machinery and modifications).
Design, implement, monitor and maintain manufacturing and assembling processes. Achieve the most efficient, cost effective and high quality production possible.
The right candidates will operate in a 'cross-functional' team, getting involved at every stage of the manufacturing process, from design and development, to production, research, and maintenance service.
Competencies
Mechanical
Knowledge of manufacturing and fabrication processes (e.g., forming, stamping, machining, heat treatment, machines/machine tools, cutting tools and fluids, N/C programming, instrumentation, data acquisition and control systems). Ability to select the best method of producing parts, tools or assemblies.
Ability to write and understand mechanical, hydraulic & pneumatic drawings and technical specifications.
Electrical
Expertise on electrical industrial control systems and PLCs, fabrication and assembly of electrical cabinets, cabling and wiring.
Ability to write and understand electrical, hydraulic & pneumatic drawings and technical specifications.
In both cases responsibilities include but are not limited to:
o Support on the research of new vendors and products.
o Support the design process.
o Specify equipment, and materials used in the manufacturing process.
o Lead projects and teams to a given goal.
o Train and supervising staff.
o Investigate operational problems affecting production.
o Provide technical expertise and support.
o Prepare manufacturing documentation required for product manufacture.
o Co-ordinate projects.
o Provide manufacturing data.
o Identify ways to reduce production costs.
o Work with engineering and other departments to produce cost estimates for new designs.
o Deal with suppliers and customers.
o Work with regulatory bodies to ensure safety, environmental and design standards are met.
Note that these are hands-on position where the candidates will be directly involved in the manufacturing process.
Education and experience
The successful candidates will be skilled and knowledgeable in all areas of industrial, manufacturing or process engineering and posses a desire to work in a team environment.
BS degree in an engineering or related field is required and/or combination of work and educational experience.
3 to 10 years of manufacturing experience required for the senior positions.
Experience on manufacturing and start of production (SOP) of non standard automatic production equipment and/or mass transportation equipment will be a plus.
Language skills
o Ability to read and analyze common scientific and technical journals.
o Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
o Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
o Spanish knowledge will be a plus.
Other qualifications
o Working familiarity with ISO and quality processes,
o Must have a positive attitude and be a good team player.
o Must be able to meet difficult schedules and reporting deadlines.
o Ability to work in non standard manufacturing processes.
o Ability to work in flexible and not very well defined situations, in which one - should be self starting and hands-on
o Ability to work any shift and overtime
Work schedule and environment
Work will be performed in Seattle, Washington, Wisconsin State and will require travel at different times to our parent company in Spain.
